Congratulations to Pat Williamson of LAMP Life-Centered Ministries in the Russell Neighborhood

On a very warm weekend in June, folks gathered in the Russell Neighborhood of West Louisville on several vacant lots to create of a community garden of healthy herbs and vegetables, beautiful flowers, fruit-bearing vines, shrubs and trees.

This project is coming to fruition due to the vision and commitment of Pat Williamson.  Pat is the director of LAMP Ministries and a Neighborhood Institute graduate.  Through the support of New Roots, Louisville Grows, The Festival of Faiths, the University of Louisville Center for Environmental Policy and Management, and a host of volunteers and donors, Pat is demonstrating what collaboration and partnership can achieve in her neighborhood.  Pat's vision for the 26th Street corridor of Jefferson Street is for the area to be a "Healthy Food Zone."

Pictured in the photo above is Pat along with Roea Wallace, both are Neighborhood Institute Alumni.  Roea is a photographer and resident of the Russell neighborhood.  She was on-site collaborating with Pat to document the garden project.

Center For Neighborhoods would like to acknowledge and congratulate Pat on her accomplishment and we look forward to updates on the growth of the garden.

Debbie McIntosh - Okolona/Fairdale Neighborhood

Congratulations to Debbie on her recent appointment to the South Jefferson Neighborhood Place Community Council.  Along with service providers and others, Debbie will help guide the Neighborhood Place Center located off of the National turnpike in Fairdale.  The Neighborhood Place brings many publicly- funded health, education and human service programs together under one roof within a specific boundary.

"Center For Neighborhoods, through the Neighborhood Institute, has given me the confidence and knowledge that allows me to be a part of this council," proclaims Debbie. "The Neighborhood Place is a good place to go to get things done and voice concerns about my area."

Way to go, Debbie!  Center For Neighborhoods is proud of you!
