New Albany Public Art Project:
Call for Artisits

carnegie center logo

The Carnegie Center for Art & History and the New Albany Urban Enterprise Association

are accepting proposals from artists for the

2012 New Albany Public Art Project:

Bicentennial Series.

The submission deadline is January 3, 2012!

Each selected artist or artist team will receive an honorarium of $4,000. Three artists or teams will be selected from the proposals to create outdoor artworks that will be installed in the Spring of 2012 to remain on view for two years.

Each selected artwork will interpret one of the following historic themes: Education, Neighborhoods & Architecture, Parks & Recreation or Transportation. Attention must be paid to this aspect of the project, as interpretation of the chosen theme and historical appropriateness will be a factor in the selection process. While artists must interpret the theme in a way that is accurate to that history, we are not looking for literal displays of the theme, but rather unique and innovative interpretations of one or more aspects of the theme.

Full details and images relating to these themes can be found on the project website: www.napublicart.org and additional images are on the project Facebook page: www.facebook.com/napublicart

Download the Call for Artists for information on the sites and submission details at: http://www.napublicart.org/forartists.php

The community will be able to enjoy the artworks and meet the artists at the New Albany Public Art Walk on June 23, 2012, from 6 to 9 pm (rain date June 30).
