    "Give A Day" Week: April 15th - 22nd

    What Are You Doing

    for "GIVE A DAY" Week?

The week before this year's Kentucky Derby Festival, Louisville will

make thunder of a different kind with the "Give A Day" week of community service, April 15-22.

"We want to set a world's record for volunteering and community service so Louisville is known worldwide as the most caring city," Mayor Greg Fischer said. "We want our citizens to be talking this

up and challenging each other: 'What are you doing for the Give A Day week? How will you make Louisville a more compassionate city?'"

Whether you have an hour or a day you can make a difference and be part of the Give A Day movement. Volunteer! Give blood! Donate food or help your neighbor!

It's easy to get involved in Give A Day - just go to www.mygiveaday.com. There individuals, companies and groups can sign up to help local non-profit agencies, churches and other organizations. There are projects and needs of all kinds - choose the one that appeals to you or best fits your schedule or company's number of volunteers.

You can also report your own community service. Does your church or company have a volunteer or service project happening during Give A Day week? Let us know about it so it can count toward the world's record! Any act of kindness counts. Mowing grass for an elderly neighbor, giving clothing or blankets, reading to a student - it all makes a difference.
